We were delighted to launch our Annual Report for 2017 in the Dublin office last Thursday 5th April. Significant findings in the report include that 83% of young people reported an improvement in their self-esteem and confidence, 89% reported an improvement in self-harm behaviours, 86% reported an improvement in substance abuse, 77% reported an improvement in anger issues and 83% reported an improvement in their emotional wellbeing.

Youth Advocate Programmes Ireland CLG are delighted to announce that we have now set up an Independent Advocacy Service, for the young people in the Ginesa Suite, Saint John of God Hospital, Stillorgan. This follows on from awarding them with the Investing in Children Award. It is the first young person's Independent Advocacy Service within an adolescent inpatient setting in Ireland.

The Mighty Ole Midlander’s group are from Longford, Westmeath, Laois and Offaly. There are 12 young people in the group and they meet up in the youth café at the Columb Barracks in Mullingar. Their objective was to do an art project for display in the new Tusla building in Mullingar and for everyone’s voice to be listened to and to be heard!

The Yap Galway participation group of 2017 focused on the objective that if you want to get your voice heard in services, then you have to educate yourself on those services and meet the people involved in them.

The YAP Limerick young people created some great coasters with positive messages as part of their participation project for the "Young People Speak Out - How Can I Bring About Change" event that took place in Croke Park on 17th August.
